Like the original Corvette in 1953, the 1968 design was influenced by a show car. It was a development of the Mako Shark I and II which were exhibited in North America and Europe during 1964. The dramatic lines of the new car created new sales records. 28,566 were sold in 1968. The new design was described as a "Coke-Bottle" silhouette in which the fender crowns were higher than the tops of the doors.

The 1982 Corvette ended in a 15-year series, but the special Collector Edition had something really new. It was the first Corvette with a lift-up rear window for easier luggage access. 1982 was also the first year of full production at the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant.

1970 to 73 Camaro
The second-generation Camaro received far more than just a facelift. So extensive was the remodel that its release was delayed until mid-year. Making the first ones technically 1970 1/2 models. The wait was worth it. The longer, lower, wider Camaro turned and stopped worlds better than its predecessor, and the ride was much more comfortable. The top-of-the-line Z/28 got a displacement boost to 350ci. The new mill was more powerful (360hp) and much easier to drive on the street. Successive model years lost a bit of luster as emissions rules eroded power slightly and safety regs mandated less comely bumper treatments, but the Camaro remained on of the hotter rides.

65-70 Shelby Mustangs
Shelby’s Mustangs could almost comprise a guide category of their own, as virtually every one was a star. Other than the very first ’65 model, the 67 big block GT 500 was the most significant, and thanks to its fiberglass nose and tail caps, one of the most beautiful of all Muscle cars. Extra cubes and extra luxury made these much less nimble then previous Shelby, but the dual quad 428 Police interceptor engines made them brutally fast in a straight line.
